Nel Lim is a Singapore-based photographer, who is now moving beyond his art into collaborative projects that combine his sensitive aesthetics, creative talents, business acumen, culinary skills and desire to move and shake up the local art scene.
Nel graduated with a Diploma in Fine Arts from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2010. He has participated in several group exhibitions in Singapore (The Arts House, Singapore Art Museum, Objectifs, LASALLE College of the Arts) and abroad.
Displaying talent for composition and wisdom beyond his age, his works are beautiful portraitures inflected by a critique on various social phenomena he observes in the country he lives in or travels to.
During his younger years, he used to craft his own fun-fair events at his grandmother’s home to welcome his cousins and play along with his new creations of homemade games and rewards gifts.
He is unafraid of distancing himself from the outside world, at times, in order to recharge and clear his visions from the old in order to nurture the new phases in his creative process.
For the past few years he has been working extensively with Camp Asia, teaching approximately 900 students yearly during their summer holidays. In addition, he has conducted various art activities in National Library Board (NLB) and taught in various International Schools including Nexus School Singapore, German European School Singapore (GESS), as well as holiday camps for Little House (Montessori) and Playeum.
Currently, he is focusing on sharing his refined aesthetic sensibility with larger audiences and broadening the way people engage in learning arts and craft.
When I let go of what I am,
I become what I might be.
